Frances Westerduin

Based near Skye in the West Highlands. I weave fine worsted and woollen fabrics. I take inspiration from the wilderness surrounding the small community of Lochcarron. My designs are inspired by the proportions and colours of the coastal land and seascapes in the area. I have two handlooms to weave samples for new design and colour work. I am working on the Hattersley loom that has been in Lochcarron for some years. John the local weaver has retired and is passing on his weaving knowledge and skills. I am fascinated by the provenance of both worsted and woollen fabrics in Britain.
